On October 26, 2026, Yalkap Hojagulyyev, Head of the “Spiritual Mosque of Arkadag” Religious Organization and Chief Imam of the mosque, arrived in Pakistan to explore the distinctive features of Islamic culture and scholarship, discuss the training of specialists in religious studies, and consider opportunities for international cooperation in these fields.

During the visit, Yalkap Hojagulyyev held meetings with Ibrar Ahmad Mirza, Federal Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony; Muhammad Raghib Hussain Na’eemi, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology of Pakistan; and Shafiq ur Rehman, a member of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission.

The meetings highlighted the efforts of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, to preserve the country’s religious and national traditions and create favourable conditions for citizens to observe their religious obligations and customs.

In this context, the Turkmen delegation provided information about the construction of “Spiritual Mosque of Arkadag” in the city of Arkadag. Designed to accommodate 30,000 worshippers simultaneously, the mosque is set to become the largest in Central Asia. A higher religious educational institution is also being established alongside the mosque.

Against this background, the Turkmen delegation discussed opportunities to establish and further develop cooperation with relevant Pakistani government institutions in these areas.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in advancing religious education, exchanging expertise and training qualified specialists.
