The President of Turkmenistan received the head of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.

On June 28, 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Chairman of the Board of the Korean company Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd, Jung Won-ju, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the guest noted that it is a great honor for the company he heads to work in Turkmenistan, a country with a rich cultural heritage and solid economic potential. Taking this opportunity, Jung Won-ju cordially congratulated the head of state on the second anniversary of the opening of Arkadag city and conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung.

Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also conveyed his best wishes to the head of the friendly state. Wishing to the guest a fruitful visit, the President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the talks planned during his visit would provide a good opportunity to exchange views on the prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan attaches special importance to strengthening relations with the Republic of Korea based on the principles of mutual understanding, respect and trust. For many years, large Korean companies have been carrying out large-scale activities to implement important projects in the oil and gas, as well as chemical industries of Turkmenistan, making a significant contribution to the development of bilateral economic cooperation. Also, the Daewoo has established effective relations with Turkmen partners due to the opportunities created in Turkmenistan.

Currently, the chemical industry is one of the dynamically developing sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy. The main activity of the industry is the production of chemical products from local raw materials, necessary for the domestic market, as well as export–oriented.

“A contract for the construction of a complex for the production of mineral fertilizers at a chemical plant in Turkmenabat was signed between the Turkmenhimiya State Concern and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., which marks the beginning of a new stage in the history of bilateral cooperation,” said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and wished all employees of the Korean company success in implementing this project.

Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the opportunities provided for effective operation in the promising Turkmen market, the guest confirmed the commitment of his company to strict compliance with its contractual obligations.

At the end of the meeting, expressing confidence in further expansion of a fruitful mutually beneficial partnership, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the Chairman of the Board of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd, Jung Won-ju, new successes in the development of Turkmen-Korean relations.
