Human capital development in focus: NAVTTC Roundtable held in Islamabad
On April 14, 2026, a roundtable was held in Islamabad at the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) with the participation of Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan's Prime Minister's Youth Program, heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives of international organizations accredited in Pakistan.
At the beginning of the event, the Pakistani side presented and shared information on the work and achievements of NAVTTC, as well as ongoing reforms under the Pakistan’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Sector Support Program and Vision 2025.
Participants discussed specific areas of cooperation between NAVTTC and partner countries in the areas of training, certification, and workforce mobility. The importance of encouraging cooperation in the creation of joint skill development programs, scholarships, and centers of excellence was emphasized.
Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov outlined the Turkmen leadership's policy in technical and vocational education and training, aimed at reforming the system in line with the current needs of the labor market. This policy promotes industrial partnerships, gender equality, and international cooperation for skills development.
A. Movlamov also noted that, in accordance with its foreign policy based on its Permanent Neutrality, Turkmenistan is committed to strengthening regional cooperation, an important area of which is the training of specialists who are crucial to supporting large-scale initiatives being implemented in our region. In this context, he noted the need for professionally trained specialists to be involved in the implementation and management of the strategic TAPI and TAP projects, which are designed to meet Pakistan's energy needs.
Following the roundtable, the participants expressed interest in further developing the dialogue and agreed to intensify interaction between relevant agencies and educational institutions.
