Meeting with the Spanish Ambassador-designate at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad

On February 2, 2026, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan A.Movlamov and the Ambassador-designate of Spain to Pakistan Carlos Aragón at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan congratulated his Spanish counterpart on his appointment to the new position and wished him every success in his professional activities in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Spain in the areas of trade, transit, energy, and other fields of mutual interest. The Ambassador-designate of Spain briefed about his country’s experience in addressing desertification processes caused by climate change and the national initiatives being implemented in the field of sustainable management of natural resources.

In this context, the prospects and economic viability of the trade route passing through Afghanistan and Pakistan were highlighted.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Spain, as well as to maintain regular dialogue within the framework of the work of the Diplomatic Corps in Pakistan.
