Meeting in Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry

On November 9, 2022, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan A. Movlamov visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and had a meeting with Mr. Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), former presidents, executive members and a large number of members of ICCI.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties congratulated each other on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, which is being celebrated in 2022. It was noted that all these years, bilateral relations between our countries have been steadily developing upward.

The Turkmen side made a video presentation on Turkmenistan's Independence and its Permanent Neutrality Status, domestic and foreign policy of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The huge potential for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan was highlighted. Special attention was made to the implementation of strategically important joint projects - the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TOP) power transmission line, and the connecting our countries by a fiber-optic communication cable.

The Pakistani side highly appreciated the friendly and fraternal relations with Turkmenistan and emphasized that these projects would greatly contribute to Pakistan's economy and energy security, and early implementation of these projects would meet the needs of the people of Pakistan.

The sides expressed their desire to strengthen bilateral relations and increase trade turnover between the two countries. Interest was expressed in developing cooperation in the field of trade, textiles, and information technology (IT), benefiting from the transit opportunities of each other, holding joint trade fairs, and investing in various sectors of the economies of Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
