MEETING AT THE ISLAMABAD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY

Embassy of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan gave a presentation at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) on potential areas of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, on 2nd February 2021.
Talking at the meeting, Ambassador of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Atadjan Movlamov highlighted the foreign policy of Neutral Turkmenistan aimed at promoting peace and economic development in the region and beyond.
The presentation, provided by Embassy familiarized participants with Turkmenistan’s trade-economic and oil-gas complexes, products of Turkmenistan manufactured for export, as well as with the commissioning of a number of joint projects and events of regional and international importance held in January 2021 – the year announced in Turkmenistan as “Year 2021 - Turkmenistan homeland of peace and trust”. Political and socio-economic benefits for the region were also highlighted in the implementation of Joint Projects such as Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line, and fibre-optic communication line.
Turkmenistan’s Ambassador said that his country was keen to strengthen its trade ties with Pakistan.
Speaking at the occasion, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) said about the need for both countries to focus on developing strong business linkages between their private sectors to improve bilateral trade.
Both sides underlined that all stakeholders should make strenuous efforts to establish peace in Afghanistan that would open a short route for communication between Pakistan and Central Asian countries. They also shared useful ideas for further improving bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
