Meeting in Turkmenistan Embassy with the Head of UNAMA Liaison Office in Islamabad

On 14 April 2023, the newly appointed Head of UNAMA Liaison Office in Islamabad Mr. Malick Ceesay called on Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. A.Movlamov.

During the meeting, the Head of UNAMA was briefed on the foreign policy of Neutral Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening peace, good neighborliness, and sustainable development in the region. The close cooperation of Turkmenistan with UN agencies was noted. Particularly, it was emphasized that, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the current year 2023 was declared by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace.

The guest was informed about major regional energy projects initiated by the Leadership of Turkmenistan, including TAPI and TAP projects, which are of great importance not only for the socio-economic prosperity of the participating countries but also for strengthening political stability in the region.

Mr. Malick Ceesay highly valued the policy of positive neutrality of Turkmenistan, its initiatives on the implementation of major regional energy projects, which will contribute to economic development and lasting peace in the region. He upraised that the foreign policy of Turkmenistan coincides with the interests and policies of the UN in the region and the world. He noted that Turkmenistan is highly respected in the international arena for its active engagement in the strengthening of peace and stability.
