Celebration of World Bicycle Day in Islamabad
On June 1, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan jointly with the Serena Hotel and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan organized a mass bicycle rally dedicated to the celebration of "World Bicycle Day 2025".
This event also coincided with the International Children's Day and therefore special attention was paid to the young participants, who were given the opportunity to start first.
The bicycle rally started from D-Chowk square opposite the Palace of the President of Pakistan and ended at the business complex of the Serena Hotel, where the Chief guest - Syed Ali Asad Gillani, Additional Foreign Secretary (Afghanistan & West Asia) and the organizers of the event delivered their speech. The participants of the event were also offered soft drinks and light refreshments.
In his speech, Syed Ali Asad Gillani highly appreciated the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people G. M. Berdimuhamedov to declare the June 3 as World Bicycle Day by the UN General Assembly. He emphasized that a bicycle is not only an accessible means of transportation, but also a symbol of sustainability, equality and unity. He expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event for their contribution to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov, expressing gratitude to the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan for the support provided in holding this event, emphasized that the initiative of Turkmenistan, supported by the UN, reflects our country's desire for harmony between human and nature, for strengthening health and international cooperation.
According to the participants, the bicycle rally became not only a sporting event, but also a platform for strengthening cultural ties and supporting the ideas of peace, health and care for the younger generation.
The event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Islamabad, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, the Islamabad Cycling Association, the media and the management of the Serena Hotel.
