Roundtable Discussion on the Upcoming Halk Maslahaty Meeting Held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad

On September 10, 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad hosted a roundtable discussion dedicated to the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by a delegation of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan, headed by its President, Ubaid Ur Rehman Qureshi.

The participants exchanged views on the significance of the upcoming Halk Maslahaty meeting, scheduled for September 23, which will serve as an important socio-political event to review the country’s achievements and set priorities for its further socio-economic development.

Particular emphasis was placed on the significance of the meeting in the context of the 35th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence. It was noted that the session will provide an opportunity to reflect on the country’s key achievements over three decades of independent development and outline its priorities and objectives for the years ahead.

Parties also emphasised the importance of the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to proclaim 2028 as the Year of International Law. The initiative received broad international support, with the relevant UN General Assembly resolution adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan and co-sponsored by 78 countries.

Representatives of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan highly commended Turkmenistan’s consistent, peaceful and constructive foreign policy, based on the principles of Permanent Neutrality, mutual respect and good-neighbourliness.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen contacts between the youth and parliamentary institutions of the two countries, promote exchanges of experience, and facilitate joint initiatives aimed at deepening friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
