Meeting with the Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad

On April 7, 2023, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan A.Movlamov called on Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal, Rector, COMSATS University Islamabad to discuss cooperation in the field of science and research exchanges between Turkmenistan and COMSATS University.

During the meeting, the Pakistani side made a presentation on the faculties, scientific activities, and achievements of the University.

Turkmen side in its turn, made a presentation about activities of Turkmenistan carried out in the international arena on the basis of positive neutrality policy and social-economic developments of Turkmenistan. In this regard, the information about Arkadag City, which will operate on the concept of a “smart city” and is being built by the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was highlighted.  

Talking about bilateral relations, Turkmen side emphasized the huge potential of cooperation in the energy sector, the importance of major joint projects for the economic development of Pakistan.

Pakistan side highly valued Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality, the use of advanced methods of urban construction and modern innovative technologies in Arkadag city. Furthermore, it was stressed, that TAPI and TAP projects will contribute highly to Pakistan's energy security.

Both sides agreed on the need for holding joint capacity-building events, as well as developing linkages between the educational institutions of Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
