Meeting at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad

On November 10, 2022, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan hosted a meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The event, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in collaboration with the English Speaking Union of Pakistan-Islamabad, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Ambassadors, diplomats, and members of the English Speaking Union of Pakistan.

During the meeting, the guests were acknowledged about the foreign policy of Turkmenistan, and its role as a neutral state in the Central Asian region and beyond. The guests were shown video clips on the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan and cooperation with neighboring countries of the region aimed at the implementation of various mutually beneficial economic projects.

The guests were informed about the establishment and development of bilateral relations, and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan on the international arena, including joint economic projects such as TAPI, TAP and fiber-optic lines.

The meeting participants noted the great importance for Pakistan of the energy projects under construction, which will help meet the needs of the rapidly growing industry and other sectors of the country's economy.

It was noted that at present the leadership of Turkmenistan pays great attention to the creation of new promising projects of international transport and communication corridors passing through the territory of the country. In the modern era, the development of transport communications is becoming one of the key conditions for effective international partnerships. With the expansion of communication links between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, conditions will be created for the transformation of Pakistan into a significant link in the international transit and transport corridors connecting the countries of Southeast Asia with Central Asia and Europe.

The participants agreed that there is a huge potential for trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan. The guests highly appreciated the policy of neutrality pursued by the leadership of Turkmenistan, as well as the initiatives of the leadership of both countries, aimed at supporting the economic development of the countries of the region.
