TURKMEN-NORWEGIAN POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS TOOK PLACE IN NORWAY

On October 28, 2019, Turkmen-Norwegian political consultations on the level of the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Norway were held in Oslo.  The Norwegian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Audun Halvorsen.

During the talks, the favorable vectors of bilateral ties between the two countries, regional and international agenda, as well as the situation in the Central Asia and Afghanistan were practically discussed.    

The parties exchanged views on the cooperation issues in the framework of the international organizations and collaboration in the promising spheres of economy, such as the energy and its renewable sources.  Also, the issues of exchanging best practices and knowledge in the area of leading technologies and innovations, development of relations in the field of science, education, sport and tourism were discussed.     

In the framework of the working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Oslo, a short meeting with Eiwind Nordsletten, the Special Representative of the MFA of Norway on promoting of the candidature of Norway to the United Nations Security Council for the period of 2021-2022 was held.  Stressing the special significance of mutual support of candidatures on the international platform, the parties assured each other of further continuation of positive cooperation for coordinated actions. 

The delegation of Turkmenistan also held a meeting with the Norwegian Special Envoy for Afghanistan Per Albert Ilsaas, during which the parties noted the unique contribution of Turkmenistan in maintaining peace and security in the whole Central Asian region, including the neighboring Afghanistan. 

In addition, the Turkmen delegation met with the Executive of the OMS Company Agnar Forde.  The parties discussed the opportunities of expanding collaboration between the business structures of the two countries where lies great potential for mutual implementation.
