Turkmenistan participates in CAREC Digital Corridor Consultative meeting in Islamabad

On July 29-30, 2026 a delegation from the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan took part in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Digital Corridor Consultative Meeting, held in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Turkmen delegation reaffirmed the country's commitment to advancing regional economic cooperation, accelerating digital transformation, and implementing joint initiatives to strengthen digital connectivity across the CAREC region.

Representatives of Turkmenistan underscored the importance of developing a modern and integrated digital ecosystem within CAREC, describing it as a key driver of sustainable economic growth, expanded cross-border digital services, and deeper regional integration.

The delegation also highlighted Turkmenistan's ongoing efforts to modernize its telecommunications infrastructure, expand digital government services, and introduce advanced digital technologies across various sectors, including healthcare.

Turkmenistan's active participation reflected its continued support for CAREC's regional digital agenda and its commitment to fostering mutually beneficial cooperation among member countries.

The consultative meeting brought together Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Emma Fan, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank's Pakistan Resident Mission, and delegations from nine CAREC member countries, including senior government officials, telecommunications operators, regulatory authorities, international organizations, development partners, and technical experts.
