Meeting at the Embassy of Turkmenistan with trade representatives from Peshawar

On May 16, 2022, as part of the ongoing events dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad with representatives of the Peshawar Chamber of Small Trade and Small Industry headed by its President Mr. Khalid Farook Malik and the immediate past President Peshawar Chamber of Small Trade and Small Industry, and prominent member of FPCCI Mr. Muhammad Adnan Jalil.

The guests were briefed about the neutral foreign policy of Turkmenistan, the socio-economic development of the country, and cooperation with Pakistan after the establishment of Diplomatic relations 30 years back. Pakistani representatives highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the people and Leadership of Turkmenistan.

Both sides were unanimous in the opinion of the huge potential for trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan. Sides welcomed initiatives of Turkmen leadership on the implementation of joint projects - TAPI gas pipeline, TAP power transmission line, and fiber-optic line, which will help resolve the energy crisis in Pakistan and boost the economic development in the countries of the region.

Guests were acquainted with the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, state and private companies of the country, as well as a wide range of products manufactured by the oil refining, gas chemical, textile industries, as well as enterprises of the agricultural sector of Turkmenistan.

Pakistani representatives emphasized their interest in establishing ties in the field of small and medium business. Considering that joint cooperation in this area has great prospects, Embassy provided the contact details of the companies that produce export-oriented products operating in the country.

At the end of the meeting, the parties noted that the establishment of contacts in the field of small and medium businesses will give a new impetus to the further development of trade relations between our countries.
