Orange Festival in Taxila

On February 26, 2023, the traditional, annual “Orange Festival” was held in the historical district of Taxila, Punjab, Pakistan, organized jointly by Office of Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Office of Dean of Defence Attaches in Islamabad and Mr. Zaildar Syed Ahsan Shah, Advisor on International Affairs, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with shared Future.
Chairman of Senate of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Special Assistants to Prime Minister of Pakistan, Senators, Heads and staff of diplomatic missions in Islamabad, as well as cultural figures and prominent members of society took part in the Festival.
Speaking at the event, Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy in promoting the historical and rich cultural heritage of Pakistan at the international level. He emphasized the significance of the festival in demonstrating the culture of Pakistan, in particular Taxila as the hub of ancient civilizations.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan A.Movlamov in his speech expressed gratitude to all organizers and participants of the festival, which demonstrates the diversity of culture and hospitality of the people of Pakistan. He thanked the residents of this historical site for providing an opportunity to get acquainted with the rich tradition, culture and history of Taxila, as well as for the preservation of its cultural heritage.
The participants of the festival had the opportunity to taste various types of oranges growing in the region and witnessed a cultural program that included traditional horse dances, stone lifting competitions, folk music performances and exhibition of Gandhara art.
