SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE DAY OF DIPLOMATIC WORKERS OF TURKMENISTAN WAS HELD

On February 18, 2021, the Scientific Conference dedicated to the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan “The Diplomacy of Turkmenistan – Its Past, Its Present and Its Future” was held in the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Conference was accompanied by an Exhibition timed to the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan and dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence and 25th anniversary of permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, including the year 2021 with the slogan of “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust”.

The leadership and staff members of the diplomatic service of Turkmenistan, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations working in Turkmenistan, faculty members and students of the institutions of higher education, and representatives of public organizations of the country, as well as the representatives of the national mass media and journalists accredited in Turkmenistan participated to the Conference.     

In the beginning of the Conference, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov solemnly read the Congratulatory Address of the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed to the participants of the Scientific Conference “The Diplomacy of Turkmenistan – Its Past, Its Present, Its Future”.  In it, the head of state emphasized the important role of diplomatic service in the advancement of international relations and underlined that the foreign policy of Turkmenistan is aimed at the maintenance of universal peace, security and sustainable development that finds extensive support of the international community.      

During the event, the Rector of Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamyrad Gurbangeldiyev, Rector of the International University for Humanities and Development Esen Aydogdyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Aleksandr Blokhin and Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Christine Weigand gave speeches.  Also the addresses of the faculty members of a number of institutions of higher education of Turkmenistan were heard.

In their speeches, the speakers noted the significant contribution of the Turkmen diplomacy in strengthening friendly ties, mutual understanding and trust on the regional and world levels. In this context, the key role of the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov whose international initiatives are entirely aimed at the resolution of social, economic, ecological and other challenges of the present was underlined.   

The examples of noble achievements of the brave Turkmen forefathers who applied the principles of diplomacy in international affairs were given.

Then the Address to His Excellency President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the participants of the Conference “The Diplomacy of Turkmenistan – Its Past, Its Present, Its Future” was adopted.  Here, gratitude was expressed to the head of state for his special attention to the issues of the diplomatic service of the country.

After the completion of the Conference, the Ceremony of awarding Diplomas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to young diplomats and graduate year students of the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan was held.
